FESER TIES RECORD AS AMS DOWN HAWKS – Justin Feser scored his 39th goal of the season on his record-tying night to help lead the Tri-City Americans to a 4-2 win over the visiting Portland Winterhawks in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday.
Feser, a 20-year-old from Red Deer, AB, was playing his 311th consecutive game on Tuesday night, tying the WHL record for most consecutive games played, set by Dwayne Newman with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Spokane Chiefs in 1992. The fifth-year Americans’ forward is set to break the record on Friday night.
Parker Bowles got his 20th goal of the season and chipped in an assist while Connor Rankin and Zach Yuen also scored for the Americans (37-22-1-2), who overturned a 2-0 deficit with four unanswered goals as they post their sixth win in a row. Troy Trombley made 37 saves to claim the win.
Ty Rattie scored his 40th goal of the season and Shaun MacPherson also scored while Nic Petan chipped in two assists for the Winterhawks (51-10-1-2), who went 0-for-3 on the power play as they see a five-game win streak snapped. Brendan Burke made 28 saves in the defeat.
BLADES 4, REBELS 0
Andrey Makarov stopped 24 shots to record his League-leading seventh shutout of the season as the visiting Saskatoon Blades managed a 4-0 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday.
The victory clinches the Blades a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Brenden Walker scored twice while Lukas Sutter and Nick Zajac also scored for the Blades (39-21-0-3), who roll to their 16th consecutive win while keeping them seven points clear of the Raiders for first place in the East Division.
Patrik Bartosak turned in a 47-save performance for the Rebels (34-24-4-2), who were outshot 51-24 by the visitors as they suffer their second straight loss and slip into a tie with Prince Albert for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
RAIDERS 4, WARRIORS 1
Mike Winther scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season to pace the visiting Prince Albert Raiders to a 4-1 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Tuesday.
Dakota Conroy and Jayden Hart also scored while Mark McNeill picked up three assists for the Raiders (34-23-2-4), who close out a four-game road trip with a 2-1-0-1 record and move back into a tie for fourth spot in the Eastern Conference. Luke Siemens stopped 41 of 42 shots fired his way to claim his 32nd win of the season.
Brayden Point – with his 16th goal of the season – scored the lone tally for the Warriors (21-33-3-6), who were blanked on three power play chances as they drop their second straight decision. Justin Paulic stopped 24 of 28 shots in a losing effort.
OIL KINGS 6, THUNDERBIRDS 2
Michael St. Croix and Henrik Samuelsson each netted a goal and two assists to lead the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings to a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Tuesday.
Dylan Wruck, T.J. Foster, Cody Corbett and Curtis Lazar also counted for the Oil Kings (44-15-2-3), who converted all three of their power play chances as they snap a three-game losing skid. Laurent Brossoit stopped 16 of 18 shots to record the win.
Alex Delnov scored his 20th goal of the season and chipped in an assist while Luke Lockhart also tallied a goal and an assist for the Thunderbirds (21-34-7-1), who suffer their third loss in a row and remain one point up on Everett for seventh place in the Western Conference. Brandon Glover and Danny Mumaugh combined for 22 saves in the setback.
