Everett, WA โ Three unanswered goals, breaking a 2-2 tie, propelled the Everett Silvertips who had contributions from 11 different players in their powerful 5-2 victory against the Edmonton Oil Kings before 4,178 fans at XFINITY Arena on Friday.โจโจ
The Silvertips are now 6-1-2 for the month of November and are 14-1-3 when scoring first this season.
With the Silvertipsโ win this evening, they have won their one and only meeting against Edmonton this season. Matt Fontenye got his second game-winning goal in three nights. Brian King and Noah Juulsen both had a multipoint night. Tonight was definitely a team effort, in the fact that five different Silvertips scored. โจโจ
Early into the game, Everett took two back-to-back minor penalties. During the second penalty, Everett cleared the puck and Dewar snuck past Edmontonโs defense to go one-on-one against the goaltender; Dewar scored a shorthanded goal at 4:35. The rest of the first period seemed to settle down for the Tips, and minutes later, Lucas Skrumeda scored at 8:46 from a beautiful feed by Dominic Zwerger. Edmonton took two minor penalties in the first but the Silvertips were unable to capitalize on any scoring chances. โจโจ
The game began to unravel for the Silvertips in the second period. Lane Bauer scored at 6:25 and discipline fell by the wayside; the Tips took three minor penalties, one of which resulted in a power play goal by Branden Klatt at 11:34. The game at that point was tied and Edmonton immediately took a minor penalty following the goal, which resulted in a gorgeous top shelf power play goal by Matt Fonteyne at 13:51. Less than 40 seconds later, Noah Juulsen and Brian King set up Orrin Centazzo for an insurance goal at 14:25.
The third period saw a slew of penalties from both teams; each team records 20 minutes of minor and misconduct penalties. During the first Silvertipsโ powerplay of the third, Bradly Goethals scored his first career WHL goal at 6:21 with help from Noah Juulsen and Devon Skoleski. Scrums between the whistles led to disagreements between the Everett coaching staff and the linesmen; a bench penalty given to Mitch Love ultimately ended with him being ejected from the game at 17:51.
Mario Petitโs counterpart, Patrick Dea, made 22 saves.โจโจThe Silvertips continue their home stand with a game against Prince George on Saturday, November 26 at 7:05PM PT (Fox Sports 1380 / WHL Live) at XFINITY Arena in Everett.โจโจ
