Nikolishin Wins Player of the Week Award
CALGARY, AB (League Release) – The Western Hockey League announced Tuesday that Everett Silvertips forward Ivan Nikolishin is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 12, 2014. Nikolishin tallied two goals and four assists for six points along with a +4 rating in two games over the past week, leading the Silvertips to a pair of victories in that span.
On Friday, October 10th, Nikolishin scored one goal and set up two more for a three-point effort while earning 2nd Star honors in a 6-2 win over the visiting Portland Winterhawks. On Saturday, October 11th, he enjoyed his second straight three-point outing, notching a goal and two assists in a 5-1 triumph over the Blazers in Kamloops, B.C.
Nikolishin, an 18-year-old from Moscow, Russia, is in his second season with the Everett Silvertips. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound forward has amassed 20 goals and 68 points in 79 career regular season games, including two goals and nine points in seven games to start the 2014-15 season. Nikolishin was selected in the second round, 70th overall, in the 2013 CHL Import Draft. He is eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft.

The WHL has also nominated Landon Bow of the Swift Current Broncos for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. The 19-year-old from St. Albert, AB, posted a 2-1 record with two shutouts in three appearances over the past week, allowing just three goals on 76 shots for a 1.00 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage in that span.

The Silvertips are on the road this weekend for a pair of games in eastern Washington against the Tri-City Americans on Friday and the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday. Both games are set to face-off at 7:05 pm with radio broadcast coverage starting at 6:30. Friday’s game can be heard live on Classic Country 1520 KXA, while Saturday’s contest will air on Fox Sports 1380.
