Harty Selected to Play for Team Atlantic

Silvertips Defenseman, Jonathan Harty was selected by Team Atlantic to play in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Lethbridge, Alberta. The tournament will start on December 28 and concludes on January 4, 2005. With the addition of Harty, the Silvertips will have a total of six players participating in this year’s tournament.

Harty, was the Silvertips 12th Round (221st Overall) selection in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft. The Halifax, Nova Scotia resident is in his first season with the hockey club and has added a goal and two assists in 21 games. Harty was eligible to play for Team Atlantic after his parents moved to Halifax this year. Earlier in the month, Zach Hamill, Leland Irving and Brady Calla were selected to play for Team Pacific while Brennan Zasitko and Zachary Sim (Silvertips 10th Round Selection in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft) were chosen by Team Western.

The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge features five Canadian teams (Pacific, Western, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic) and squads from the United States, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany and Finland.
