Originally from Winnipeg, MB, Doug played collegiate hockey at the University of Manitoba before embarking on a six-year professional career. He played professionally from 1991-1992 through 1997-1998. Besides playing in the ECHL and the CHL, he also played professionally overseas. Sinclair was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013 as a member of the Ile Des Chenes North Stars senior team, winners of the 2003 Allan Cup Championship.
As a coach, Doug has spent three years with Team Manitoba for the Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup, serving as an Assistant Coach in 2011 (a Silver-Medal finish for Manitoba) and 2012 before taking over Head Coaching duties in 2013.
He has been part of the Silvertips scouting staff since 2002-2003, the year before the team began play in the WHL.
