EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips erupted for a five-goal third period, led by captain Connor Dewar, who finished with two goals, paired with an offense that hammered 48 total shots on net, to blow past the Tri-City Americans, 6-1, before 4,610 at A.O.T.W. Arena on Friday night in WHL Playoffs action for a 1-0 series lead.
Along with Dewar, forwards Max Patterson, Zack Andrusiak, Lucas Cullen and Martin Fasko-Rudas all notched goals in their dominating performance, as the Silvertips now hold a 1-0 lead in the first round.

While the Tips flooded visiting goaltender Beck Warm with 17 shots in the opening frame, Silvertips captain Connor Dewar put Everett up, 1-0, at 17:44. Dewar picked up a loose puck off a rebound in the corner, maneuvered into the left slot and sniped a shot top-shelf. Martin Fasko-Rudas picked up an assist on the play.
The Silvertips dominated puck possession in the first, which limited the American’s shots on goal to only three shots in the period.
Everett tacked on 16 shots in the second, totaling 33 after two periods of play. Silvertips goaltender Dustin Wolf turned away nine-of-nine after two. The Silvertips had huge scoring opportunities during two power plays in the second, however didn’t convert on any of their advantages.
Dewar scored his second of the night while short-handed to make it 2-0 at 6:54 into the third. Max Patterson found Dewar with an outlet pass, which gave way for Dewar to crash hard on a breakaway and slide it into the opposing five-hole.
Patterson followed up his assist with a goal at 12:34, to put Everett up 3-0. Forward Robbie Holmes picked up a rebound off a shot by Jake Christiansen from the point, where Holmes connected with Patterson at the top of the left circle for a booming one-timer.
Tri-City cut the Silvertips lead to 3-1 at 13:30 with a backhand shot by winger Nolan Yaremko from the slot assisted by Parker AuCoin.
Everett forward Zack Andrusiak scored an empty net goal from the right circle at 17:40 to put the Silvertips up 4-1. Patterson broke the puck into the offensive zone and missed a shot wide, leading to a rebound off the backboards picked up and put home by Andrusiak.
Forward Lucas Cullen scored his first goal as a Silvertip to make it 5-1 at 18:39. Fasko-Rudas grabbed a loose puck in the neutral zone, carried it into the offensive zone to locate Christiansen who ripped a shot from the far left boards, allowing Cullen to score off the rebound.
With 11 seconds remaining in the game, Fasko-Rudas tipped in the game’s final goal to make it 6-1. Christiansen passed it along the blue line to defenseman Artyom Minulin, whose shot got tipped in.
