GAME RECAP: Silvertips push Giants to brink with 4-1 win in Game Four
LANGLEY, B.C. — The Everett Silvertips have taken a commanding 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Quarterfinal, taking a 4-1 score in Game Four Friday night and sweeping the road set at the Langley Events Centre.
Kaden Hammell netted the game’s first goal at 19:06 in the first period, a powerplay slapshot for his second of the series. Everett established a strong possession game from the get-go, outshooting Vancouver 21-7 in the opening period.
Samuel Honzek tallied a shorthanded goal at 16:38 in the second period to draw the Giants back to even, but the Tips responded in turn just two minutes later with a Jesse Heslop wrist shot. The Silvertips led 2-1 after two periods while maintaining a 42-16 shot advantage.
Austin Roest capitalized on a defensive miscue just 36 seconds into the third period, tucking a wraparound past Brett Mirwald for a key insurance goal. Parker Berge added his second powerplay goal of the series at 9:16 to seal a 4-1 victory.
Everett’s powerplay finished two-for-six in the contest, while their penalty kill held firm for a five-for-five night. The Silvertips have killed off their last 12 penalties drawn.
Tyler Palmer stopped 24 of 25 for the win, his third of the series. Mirwald turned aside 53 of 57.
Game Five of the Western Conference Quarterfinal is Sunday at 4 p.m. at Angel of the Winds Arena.
