GAME RECAP: Silvertips tie franchise record with 11-goal outburst in Spokane
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips tied a franchise record for goals in a single game Friday night in Spokane, besting the Chiefs by an 11-1 score.
Austin Roest opened the scoring 7:44 into the first period, banging in his own rebound for his 22nd goal of the season. He later set up a Ben Hemmerling shorthanded goal 13:25. Carter Bear netted a powerplay goal at 14:54 to give the Tips a 3-0 lead after one.
Everett erupted for six goals in the second period, jump-started by Bear’s second of the night with a one-timer at 4:17. Hemmerling followed with his second of the game and 19th of the season at 7:26. Caden Brown netted a powerplay goal at 9:14 in the second period, ripping a shot from the right circle and chasing Dawson Cowan from the net.
Cooper Michaluk received a rude introduction from the Silvertips contingent, as Dominik Rymon powered a shot through for his 23rd of the year at 11:34 in the second. Parker Berge redirected his first goal as a Silvertip and 11th of the campaign at 18:11, followed just 28 seconds later by a Caden Brown tap-in for a 9-0 lead after two periods.
Beau Courtney and Hayden Smith tacked on goals in the final two minutes of play to seal the 11-1 victory.
Ethan Chadwick stopped 30 of 31 to earn the victory, his 11th of the season. The Silvertips have now won six games in a row and earned points in seven straight.
Everett first recorded a 10-goal game on Oct. 11, 2009 in a 10-4 victory at home over the Winterhawks. They later achieved it on Dec. 27, 2017 in an 11-0 win at Vancouver, then again on Mar. 3, 2023 at home against Portland.
