Americans Defeat Silvertips In Overtime, 3-2
Everett, WA – The Tri-City Americans improved their record to 11-4-1-0 after a 3-2 shootout victory Friday night over the Silvertips. Campbell Elynuik and Parker Stanfield collected a goal and an assist each for the Silvertips. First star of the night Drew Owsley made 38 saves and stopped both Everett shooters in the shootout to collect his eighth win of the year.
Justin Feser scored the first goal of the night for the Tri-City Americans at 6:02 of the first period. Scoring on the power play, Feser picked up a rebound at the left circle from a Mason Wilgosh shot to make the score 1-0 Americans. Elynuik scored his third goal of the season at 9:49 to tie the score 1-1. Owsley made a save on a Stanfield shot before Elynuik got to the rebound low on the left circle and beat Owsley low glove side. Everett led in shots 18-9 after 20 minutes of play.
Everett took their first lead of the game at 2:30 of the second period with Stanfield’s third goal of the season. Stanfield rushed into the Tri-City zone down the left wing before cutting to the slot and firing a hard wrist shot that beat Owsley top shelf, glove side for a 2-1 ‘Tips lead. Brooks Macek tied the game for the Americans at 9:21. Macek collected a loose puck on top of the crease before stick handling around Kent Simpson to tie the score 2-2.
In the third period Simpson and Owsley each made eight saves to keep the score tied and send the game into overtime. After a scoreless overtime the game went to a shootout. Adam Hughesman and Patrick Holland scored in the shootout as Oswley stopped both Josh Birkholz and Scott Macdonald to earn a 3-2 victory.
This brings the ‘Tips record to 5-4-1-3 with 14 points in 13 games played. Everett heads on the road for back to back to back games starting November 5th against the Chilliwack Bruins at 7:30 pm, before heading to Portland facing the Winterhawks at 7:00 pm On November 6th. Finishing off the road trip on November 7th Everett goes back up to Canada to play the Vancouver Giants at 5:00 pm.
