ALUMNI REPORT: Juulsen makes Canucks debut, Wolf dominates in Stockton
Everett Silvertips alumni have had a remarkably successful run over the last few weeks! Let’s check in around the NHL and AHL to see where our former Tips are…
NHL
- Jake Christiansen unfortunately did not wind up dressing for the Columbus Blue Jackets when they visited Seattle on Saturday, Dec. 11. But he was on the ice for warmups, with several Silvertips fans in attendance at Climate Pledge Arena to cheer him on. At the time of his call-up, Christiansen led the Cleveland Monsters and was second amongst AHL defensemen on the season with 18 points through 21 games (five goals, 13 assists).
- Noah Juulsen made his Vancouver Canucks debut Tuesday, Dec. 14 after earning a call-up from the Abbotsford Canucks. Juulsen logged 14:51 of ice time in a comeback victory for Vancouver over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Juulsen was a teammate of Columbus’ Jake Christiansen in Everett from 2015-2017.

- Carter Hart has looked sharp in his last couple games tending goal for the Philadelphia Flyers. Hart stopped 41 of 44 in a win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 10, followed by a 26-save outing in a 6-1 win over New Jersey on Dec. 14. Hart is now 7-8-3 for the Flyers this season with a .915 save percentage.
- Byron Froese was called up to the Calgary Flames last week. Froese had racked up seven goals and seven assists through 16 games with the AHL’s Stockton Heat and was tied for the team lead in powerplay goals with three. Should Froese suit up for the Flames, it would be the sixth NHL season he has appeared in, having skated in 116 career games with 17 points under his belt. It may be a little bit before Froese suits up with Calgary, as the team finds themselves embroiled in COVID-19 issues.
AHL
- Dustin Wolf simply refuses to lose in regulation. By stopping 29 of 30 against the Tuscon Roadrunners on Dec. 10, he improved to 11-0-2 on the season with a .939 save percentage and a 1.90 goals-against average. Wolf has won six consecutive starts for the Stockton Heat while not allowing more than two goals in a single game over the course of that stretch. At just 20-years-old, he is dominating the AHL in just his first full season as a pro.
“Don’t get excited about galore prospects” is generally a good heuristic (especially for Flames fans), but here’s Dustin Wolf’s last 5 seasons of work:
2017-18: .928 SV% (WHL)
2018-19: .936 SV% (WHL)
2019-20: .935 SV% (WHL)
2020-21: .940 SV% (WHL)
2021-22: .939 SV% (AHL)— Kent Wilson (@Kent_Wilson) December 14, 2021
- Speaking of the Stockton Heat, Eetu Tuulola has two points in his last three games giving him five points in 15 games on the season. The Heat currently sit in first place in the AHL’s Pacific Division at 15-2-3, helmed by rookie head coach (and former Silvertips captain) Mitch Love.
- Wyatte Wylie collected an assist on Sunday, Dec. 12 as the Lehigh Phantoms downed the Hartford Wolfpack in a shootout 4-3. Wylie has two assists in 12 games for the Phantoms this season.
- Cole Fonstad posted a professional-best three-point night for the Cleveland Monsters on Dec. 8, notching a goal and two assists. Fonstad has four points in 11 games played for the Monsters this season.
- Montana Onyebuchi has made the most of his opportunities when in the lineup for the San Jose Barracuda. In six games played, he has two fighting majors including one on Dec. 11 that made the rounds on social media as a heavyweight tilt with Abbotsford’s Devante Stephens. Onyebuchi piled up 440 penalty minutes in 257 career WHL games with Everett and Kamloops.
