Vancouver Defeats Everett, 3-0
Vancouver, B.C. – Mark Segal earned his fourth career WHL shutout making 25 saves and leading the Vancouver Giants to a 3-0 victory over Everett Sunday night. Luke Siemens played very well in net for the Silvertips making 27 saves and maintaining a .920 save percentage after two games played. Michael Burns, Neil Manning, Matt MacKay scored for the Giants.
Vancouver struck first at 9:12 of the first period on the power play. Burns scored on the rebound after a good glove save from Siemens off of Greg Lamoureux. The Giants increased their lead to 2-0 with Manning’s sixth goal of the season. While on a 5 on 3 man advantage, Manning let off a blast from the top right circle at 16:09.
MacKay finished off the scoring on a shot off a feed from Manning at 14:46 of the second period. Siemens made a great save on James Henry to keep the ‘Tips going in the third period. Siemens flashed the glove on a point blank one timer from Henry to finish off a strong game.
This brings the ‘Tips record to 6-6-1-3 with 16 points in 16 games played. Everett heads back to Comcast Arena to take on Byron Froese and the Red Deer Rebels this Tuesday night at 7:05 pm.
