Kamloops, BC – The Royals faced off with the Kamloops Blazers for the third time in just seven days on Monday afternoon at the Sandman Centre.
Rookie forward Nolan Stewart put the Royals up 1-0 16:58 into the first frame. He was assisted by Justin Kipkie and Nate Misskey. The Royals held the one-goal lead after 20 minutes of play.
Kamloops tied the game on a goal from Jordan Keller at 7:19 of the second period, assisted by Emmitt Finnie and Oren Shtrom. The two teams were tied at one apiece heading into the final frame.
Keaton Verhoeff regained the lead for the Royals early in the third period scoring at the 1:41 mark. Assisting on the goal was Teydon Trembecky and Reggie Newman. Verhoeff’s goal marks his first point since returning from the U17 World Hockey Challenge where he captained Team Canada White to a gold medal. Cole Reschny sealed the game with an empty net goal at 19:40 of the third period with an assist from Reggie Newman.
The Royals would hold on to win the game 3-1.
