Recap: Royals (4) vs. Giants (0) – December 13th, 2024
The Victoria Royals hosted the Vancouver Giants at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight in their first matchup of the season. Royals goalie Jayden Kraus earned his first career WHL shutout in the 4–0 win in the team’s last home game before the holiday break.
Both teams had their chance on the power play in the first period, but only the Royals could pull through on the man advantage with a goal from Teydon Trembecky at 17:27. Justin Kipkie and Cole Reschny both notched assists on Trembecky’s power play goal, and Victoria held the 1–0 lead headed into the second frame.
The Royals held their one-goal cushion for a majority of the second period, including nearly two minutes of 4-on-3 penalty kill. Keaton Verhoeff netted another late-frame goal for the Royals at 19:50. Assists on the play came from Hayden Moore and Reggie Newman to bring the score to 2–0 to end the period.
Cole Reschny was quick to extend the Royals’ lead to three in the third frame, scoring just before the 30 second mark, assisted by Teydon Trembecky. Tanner Scott brought the score to 4–0 with a goal at 9:19 off the assist from Keaton Verhoeff. Jayden Kraus and the Royals held the Giants off for the remainder of the game to secure the shutout.

The Royals will be hopping on the ferry for an afternoon game tomorrow against the Giants at the Langley Events Centre—the Royals’ last game before their holiday break.
