The Week Ahead Begins with Royals Wednesday
The Kelowna Rockets are back to work this week, preparing for the final six games of the WHL regular season, beginning on Wednesday night at Prospera Place.
The Rockets host Victoria Wednesday on Hat Trick Wednesday (ticket, hot dog, pop for $19.99) before playing a home and home series with Kamloops this weekend, in Kamloops on Friday and at Prospera Place on Saturday.
Kelowna tied a WHL and CHL record for wins by a franchise in consecutive years on the weekend, winning its 50th game of the season. The Rockets have now posted 50 or more wins in three straight years after last year’s club record 57 wins as well as 52 the season before.
The only other teams to hit that mark in the WHL are the Kamloops Blazers (1989-90 to 91-92) and the Edmonton Oil Kings (2011-12 to 13-14) while the Saint Johns Sea Dogs also won 50 in three straight seasons in the QMJHL from 2010-11 to 12-13).
Of the Rockets final six home games four will be played at Prospera Place prior to the start of the WHL playoffs on March 27 and 28 in Kelowna.
