r A year ago, the Kamloops Blazers couldn't buy a win against the Kelowna Rockets, losing all 13 meetings including 9 in the regular season and four in the playoffs.

r Friday night in the home half of a back-to-back series, the Blazers got some timely goals and good goaltending in a 4-1 victory over the Rockets.

r Tyler Shattock scored twice including the insurance marker on a third period power-play to pace the Blazers attack.
r
r The goals give Shattock five on the young season.

r Jimmy Bubnick and Dylan Willick added singles.

r The Rockets were only able to generate one goal off the stick of Lucas Bloodoff despite firing 37 shots at Blazers netminder Jon Groenheyde.

r The 18-year-old goaltender, who was peppered with 30 shots over the final 40 minutes, was named the games number one star.

r Adam Brown faced 28 shots in the loss.

r The Rockets power-play, which has struggled to start the season, was 0-8 on the night. Kelowna has just two goals in 17 chances with the man advantage.

r The same two teams will meet Saturday night at Prospera Place as the Rockets (0-2-1-0) look for their first win of the season.
