Weekend Wrapup
Kennewick, WA – The Red Deer Rebels finished off their preseason weekend in Tri-City with a 4-2 win over the Portland Winterhawks Saturday to go undefeated in their two games. The Rebels also won 4-2 over the Tri-City Americans on Friday.
Saturday, Cole Chorney and Presten Kopeck scored for the Rebels in the first period to give the team a 2-0 lead after one. Adam Musil and Wyatt Johnson scored in the second period and the Rebels had a 4-1 lead after two. The Winterhawks added one goal in the third period. Taz Burman made 25 saves in the Rebels net. Red Deer was 1 for 6 on the power play and killed all 7 shorthanded situations.
On Friday, the Rebels and Americans were tied 1-1 after one period; Wyatt Johnson had the Rebels goal. Scott Feser scored for Red Deer in the second period, and the Rebels had a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes. Grayson Pawlenchuk and Wyatt Johnson, with his second of the game, closed out the team’s scoring in the Rebels 4-2 win. Brooks Maxwell had 3 assists. Rylan Toth made 17 saves for the win. The Rebels were 1 for 6 on the power play and killed 4 of 5 shorthanded situations.
