Rebels Fall Short
Friday night at the Enmax Centrium, the Rebels rallied in the third to tie it at 1, only to fall in a Shootout, 2-1 to the Regina Pats.
Tanner Olstad would give the Pats a 1-0 lead 15:28 into the second period, one-timing a Garrett Mitchell feed from the corner. In the third, Byron Froese would blast a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins pass on the powerplay to tie the game at 9:22. The Rebels would kill off a 5 minute major to end the third and into overtime, but the game would go to a shootout.
Only Nugent-Hopkins would score in the shootut for Red Deer, while Jordan Weal and Shayne Neigum connected for the Pats. The shootut would last 10 rounds.
Darcy Kuemper finished with 28 saves; Matt Hewitt countered with 40 saves.
Red Deer plays 7 of their next 8 games on the road, starting Saturday in Cranbrook against the Ice.
