Rebels Drop A 6-2 Decision In Kelowna
KELOWNA, BC – The Red Deer Rebels took on one of the top teams in the Western Hockey League on Wednesday, the Kelowna Rockets, and it was all Rockets in this one. Kelowna won 6-2, and the Rebels are now 1-3-0-0 on this 6-game road trip.
The Rockets started early taking a 4-0 lead at the 13:35 mark of the first period. Taz Burman came on in relief of starting netminder Patrik Bartosak at that point. Burman finished with 27 saves, Bartosak with 11.
The Rebels got one goal in the second period from Brooks Maxwell to cut the Rockets lead to 4-1. The Rebels got another goal in the third period, this time from Dominik Volek, and the Rebels were back in the game, trailing just 4-2. But the Rockets closed it out with two more, skating to a 6-2 win. The Rockets have now won 5 straight.
The Rebels were outshot in this game 44-18 and were 0 for 3 on the power play, while killing 4 of 6 shorthanded situations.
The Rebels continue the road trip Friday in Cranbrook. The broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 6:50PM on Friday.
