Raiders Hang on to Beat Blades

 The Raiders clung on to a 6-5 lead late in the game to take their second victory of the Saskatoon in as many nights to open up the 2013-2014 WHL season.

It was the Blades who struck first after the opening ceremony, taking a 2-0 lead 6 minutes into the game.

Rookie Matteo Gennaro potted his first WHL goal in his first game at the Art Hauser Centre and Dylan Busenius scored to even the slate.

In the middle stanza, Saskatoon regained the lead, but Sawyer Lange evened it up with his first goal of the season, followed by Gage Quinney’s second of the season for the Raiders first lead of the game heading into the final frame.

Dakota Conroy bounced one off of a Blade defender and Leon Draisaitl added to the lead  midway through the game.

Saskatoon fought back, scoring a pair of goals to get within one with 60 seconds to play, but the home side would hold on for the victory.
