Raiders Announce Leadership Group For 2023-24 Season
Raiders name Johnston 48th captain in franchise history
The Prince Albert Raiders proudly announce that Eric Johnston will be the club’s captain for the 2023-24 season. Johnston becomes the team’s 48th captain in franchise history. The defenceman from Regina, SK, is entering his third WHL season and his second full season with the Raiders after being acquired from the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2021-22. The 2004-born Johnston has appeared in 125 games in his time in the WHL, 106 of those with the Raiders. Head Coach Jeff Truitt added, “When looking at announcing leadership, you’re asking for characteristics of what a Prince Albert Raider is. He is extremely hard-working, he is accountable to himself, he holds others accountable, and he has taken guys under his wing and treated everyone so well since he got here. To show his knowledge and show those characteristics are the reasons why Eric Johnston will be our Captain this season”.
Truitt also presented the Alternate Captain jerseys to Niall Crocker and Sloan Stanick.
Crocker, who was a 1st round WHL Prospect Draft selection in 2019, is entering his 4th season with Prince Albert. Having appeared in 153 career regular season games, Crocker has collected 41 points in his career, with the majority of those coming last year in a breakout season for Niall, which saw him collect 17 goals and 14 assists in 66 games.
Sloan Stanick is a veteran of 206 career regular season WHL Games, having split time between the Regina Pats and the Raiders. Acquired early in the 2021-22 season from Regina, Stanick has collected 123 points in his WHL career, including 64 last season (31G 33A) when he led the Raiders in scoring.
