RAIDER REVIEW: After defending their lead atop the East Division on the weekend, the Prince Albert Raiders (13-5-2-1) will look to do so again against another strong contender, the Moose Jaw Warriors (11-6-2-1). On Friday night, the Raiders suffered a tough 5-4 loss in overtime when the Saskatoon Blades got two late goals by Ryan Graham– one in the final minute of regulation and the other in the first minute of overtime. The Raiders were able to rebound in an important match-up on Sunday evening versus the Brandon Wheat Kings. With the game tied in the third period, Jesse Lees forced the play into the Brandon end where he took control and attempted a wrap around shot. His effort would not find the back of the net, but on the doorstep was Reid Gardiner to put the Raiders in the lead with a shorthanded tally. Prince Albert would hold on for a 3-2 decision with Ian Scott collecting 33 saves.
VS. MOOSE JAW: Tonight is the third of eight meetings this season between the Raiders and Warriors. So far this year, each team has won the game held at home. In their last 10 head-to-head contests, each team has won five games.

SHORTIES: On Sunday in Brandon, the Raiders kept an unlikely streak going with their third shorthanded goal in as many games. The streak began on November 7 when Sean Montgomery scored a shorthanded goal in Moose Jaw against the Warriors. Since then, Jesse Lees and Reid Gardiner have netted goals while on the penalty kill. Prince Albert has now scored four shorthanded goals this season, tied for second behind the Prince George Cougars who have six.
GOALS LEADER: Forward Reid Gardiner leads the Raiders in three major goal categories. The team’s leading scorer tops the club in even strength goals with 15, shorthanded goals with two and game-winning goals with three. Gardiner’s linemate, Simon Stransky, leads Prince Albert in power play goals with six.
ALUMNI REPORT: A member of the Raiders from 2009 to 2012, forward Justin Maylan has been one of the top scorers in the Italian circuit this season. Now in his second year playing in Italy, first with Val Pusteria, Maylan has 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 16 games. His totals have him tied for third in league scoring. In 210 contests during his time with the Raiders, Maylan scored 64 goals and 137 assists for 201 points.
