Penner Returns
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that 16 year-old left winger Cole Penner has returned to the Western Hockey League team for the duration of the 2007-08 season. Penner, the Raiders 1st round selection, 4th overall in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft, appeared in 4 pre-season games with the Raiders scoring one goal.
Penner then played with the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior League, appearing in 12 games with 3 goals and 4 assists before suffering 4 broken ribs in mid-November. Penner has not played since.
“I’m very glad to be back in PA to stay now”, said the 6’1”, 205 pound product of Medicine Hat, Alberta. “It has been a very difficult season with injuries. I’ve watched too many games and now I can hardly wait to rejoin the Raiders.”
Penner will practice with the team this week and be eligible to return to the lineup this weekend when the Raiders have three games in three nights. They are in Brandon Friday before returning home to host Edmonton Saturday at 7:30 PM and the Wheat Kings Sunday at 6:30 PM. Penner will wear #15.
