Flu Shot Clinic
Prince Albert, SK— The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region and the Prince Albert Raiders are once again joining forces to encourage everyone to get immunized against influenza. For one of the flu vaccine clinics this month, the Region is partnering with the Prince Albert Raiders to offer flu vaccine prior to and during the game versus the Regina Pats on Wednesday, November 12th. The clinic will take place in the Raiders’ boardroom at the Art Hauser Centre.
“The Raiders are proud to partner with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region to provide this opportunity to our fans and the general public to get their flu vaccine,” said Bruno Campese, Prince Albert Raiders General Manager.
“You can protect yourself, your family and others in the community by getting immunized against influenza, said Dr. Khami Chokani, Medical Health Officer. “Proper hand hygiene, cough etiquette and immunization combine to reduce the risk of getting and spreading influenza.”
While getting the influenza vaccine earlier is best, Dr. Chokani said there is still time left to make sure you are protected against influenza. The vaccine is most effective in reducing risk of illness, when received before the virus begins to widely circulate. As of Nov. 1st, more than 15,000 doses of vaccine had been provided at public health flu clinics, physician clinics and home care clients, as well as through PAPHR’s employee health nurses (for staff, physicians, volunteers, etc.). FluMist is available and is being recommended for ages 2-17 years, as it is most effective for this age group.
Public Health immunization clinics will be held throughout the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region until late November. Influenza vaccine is also available from physician offices. An updated schedule of Public Health clinics is online at www.princealbertparklandhealth.com.
