Raiders gearing up for Kid Takeover Night sponsored by Mann Northway on February 24
This game night is proudly sponsored by Mann Northway.
“The Car Guys and Gals are honoured to be involved in the Kid Takeover Night with our Prince Albert Raiders,” said Mark Ripley, Dealer Principal at Mann Northway. “Raising funds for our pediatric unit at the Victoria Hospital is so important to us and our community. We hope everyone enjoys the colourful jerseys and the art designed by our local youth. We are all PA proud.”
The Raiders have been visiting the Victoria Hospital’s pediatric unit, reading to kids and drawing. The pedicatric unit holds approximately 1,500 children annually, totaling over 3,800 patient days of care. This significant service provision underscores the need for expansion and enhanced resources to meet the growing healthcare needs of children in the region.
A substantial portion of the pediatric care demand comes from very young children, with over 35% under two years old and 73% under four. These age groups often require the most intensive care and monitoring, especially since more than 25% of these young patients need close observation for conditions like respiratory issues or injuries resulting from accidents.
Eric Johnston, Sloan Stanick, Niall Crocker, Justice Christensen, and Max Hildebrand all made visits to the pediatric ward over the last couple of weeks, while Eric and Sloan were lucky enough to welcome Bryce and Carter, two patients from the pediatric ward, to the rink to design namebars and take them for a tour around the Art Hauser Centre. Bryce and Carter’s namebar designs will be worn on the back of Eric and Sloan’s jerseys for their game against the Wheat Kings on the 24th, while every other player will also have uniquely designed namebars for their jerseys, created by local youth.
All money raised from Kid Takeover Night will be donated to the Boreal Healthcare Foundation in support of the pediatric unit at the Victoria Hospital.
