Game Preview: March 15 @ Edmonton
SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders (35-23-5-1) will try to end their road trip on a high note tonight as they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings (35-25-2-2). Prince Albert picked up a big 4-3 overtime win in Red Deer last night to keep pace with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Saskatoon Blades, who both also won last night. Edmonton was idle last night, and play their first of two straight games tonight, as they head to Calgary for a Sunday matinee.
FIRST HAT TRICK:
Aiden Oiring picked a clutch game to score his first career hat trick. After scoring two goals in the first period in Red Deer, with one of those goals coming on the powerplay, Oiring waited until overtime to sink the dagger. He made a great play in the offensive zone to force a turnover, and then outwaited Peyton Shore in the Rebel net to bury the game winning goal for his third of the night. Oiring is now up to 28 goals and 79 points on the season.
THE BATTLE FOR THE DIVISION CONTINUES:
With the Raiders, Blades, and Wheat Kings all winning on Friday, nothing changed in the East Division standings. Brandon currently occupies the top seed in the East with 77 points, tied with Saskatoon. Just one point back are the Raiders with 76. Saskatoon has the night off tonight before hosting Regina on Sunday, while Brandon is in action tonight in Moose Jaw.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Justice Christensen: Two points away from 100 career, four games away from 200.
Aiden Oiring: Five games away from 200.
