Game Preview: January 3 @ Regina
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (26-5-4-0) wrap up a home and home series tonight in Regina as they take on the Pats (11-19-4-1). The Raiders got the job done and then some last night, as they beat Regina 9-2 at the Art Hauser Centre. Entering tonight, the Raiders have an 11 point lead on the Brandon Wheat Kings for first place in the East Division. They trail the Medicine Hat Tigers by one point for top spot in the Eastern Conference, with two games in hand.
HAVE A NIGHT, JONAH:
Jonah Sivertson racked his first career four point night on Friday, scoring a goal and adding three assists against the Pats. Sivertson scored a breakaway goal 3:55 into the third period, and picked up helpers in the first and second period. In 35 games, the rookie winger has 27 points (13G-14A).
HOW BOUT THAT OFFENCE:
The Raiders have scored 32 goals in their last four games! With wins over Kelowna (8-3), Swift Current (7-1, 8-0) and Regina (9-2), the Raiders have now scored 157 goals on the season, tied for second most in the WHL. Their 92 goals against is the lowest in the league as well.
ONTO THE WORLD JUNIOR SEMI FINALS:
Matyas Man and Michal Orsulak helped Czechia beat Switzerland 6-2 on Friday night in World Juniors quarterfinal action in Minnesota. Orsulak got the start in goal, stopping 18 out of 20 shots. In five games in the tournament, Orsulak owns a 2.94 GAA and a .869 SV%.
