Game Preview: Game 50 vs Medicine Hat
SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders return home tonight after falling 3-1 in Moose Jaw last night. Harrison Lodewyk scored the lone goal for the Raiders, shorthanded in the third period. Nathan Preston put together a solid night in goal for the green and gold, as he stopped 31 of 34 shots in his second WHL start. Prince Albert will have to regroup and get ready to face a high powered Medicine Hat Tigers team tonight. Prince Albert fell 6-2 in their only meeting earlier this season in Alberta.
THE STANDINGS RACE:
A Calgary Hitmen win last night in Edmonton means the Raiders are one point behind the Hitmen for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The two teams have been switching spots with each other over the last week. Prince Albert is also four points back of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who sit in seventh place. Lethbridge was idle last night, but they host the Hitmen tonight, which will be an important game for the Canes, Hitmen, and Raiders in terms of points.
DID SOMEONE SAY SHOOTOUT?:
In remarkable fashion, the Raiders have gone to a shootout in their last 5 home games. Prince Albert has won four of those contests, with their only loss coming against the Vancouver Giants. Their most recent shootout came on Wednesday night, when they ended the Red Deer Rebels’ nine game winning streak with a 4-3 victory.
