Game Preview: Game 40 vs Victoria
SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders went to their second shootout game in a row on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Giants. The green and gold fell 6-5 in a game that needed six rounds of the shootout to find a winner. Prince Albert erased a 5-3 deficit in the third period to force overtime, but in his first game with his new team, Tyson Zimmer scored in the bottom of the sixth round to give the Giants the extra point.
THE FINAL BC TEAM:
The green and gold welcome their last BC opponent to the Art Hauser Centre tonight, as the Victoria Royals make their way through the prairies. The Royals are winless in three games against the East Division so far, falling to the Regina Pats 2-1 in overtime, the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 in overtime, and most recently a 5-0 setback to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday night. The Royals sit in fifth place in the Western Conference with a 23-14-2-2 record, two points back of third place. The Raiders are 18-18-0-3 on the season, sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
DEADLINE DEALS:
The Raiders made one move on trade deadline day on Wednesday, shipping Hayden Pakkala to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a third round pick in the 2027 WHL Prospects Draft. Prince Albert also signed 18-year-old forward Dustin Renas to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Renas spent the last two seasons with the Hurricanes before being let go by the club. He will make his Raider debut this weekend.
