RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders (28-2-0-1) host the Edmonton Oil Kings (16-12-3-2) for the first time this season tonight at the Art Hauser Centre. On Sunday, the Raiders lost just their second game in regulation this season by a 1-0 score in Saskatoon against the Blades at SaskTel Centre. The Blades’ Nolan Maier made 32 saves for the shutout. Ian Scott stopped 26 shots in a losing effort for the Raiders.
VS. EDMONTON: This is the second time the Raiders and the Oil Kings have squared off this season. In the first meeting, Parker Kelly and Brett Leason each had three-point nights in a 6-3 win over Edmonton. The Raiders have won five of the last six games against the Oil Kings at the Art Hauser Centre.

STREAK SNAPPED: In his final game before departing for the World Juniors selection camp, Brett Leason had his season-long point streak ended. The forward from Calgary had a point in all 30 games heading into Sunday’s contest. During the streak, Leason had three four-point games, seven three-point efforts, and 11 two-point nights.
ROSTER MOVES: With Brett Leason and Ian Scott attending Team Canada’s World Juniors selection camp, the Raiders have recalled 2001-born goaltender Brett Balas and 2003-born forward Tyson Laventure. Balas was picked in the third round of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. Laventure was the Raiders’ 31st overall selection from May’s draft.
ROAD TO RED DEER: Tyson Laventure was named to Team Alberta’s roster for the 2019 Canada Winter Games in February. He’ll face off against fellow Raider prospects Nolan Allan and Logan Linklater, who were selected for Team Saskatchewan’s roster for the event on Monday.
BELARUSIAN REPORT: Aliaksei Protas, Sergei Sapego, and Team Belarus are off to a hot start at the World Junior Division 1 Championship in Germany. Entering Wednesday’s action, Protas has a goal and an assist while Sapego has two goals in two wins for Belarus to give them top spot in the table.
NEXT UP: The Raiders close out the first half of the season with a home-and-home series against the Swift Current Broncos, beginning on Friday night at the Innovation Credit Union i-plex. Game time is 7 p.m. The two teams meet again on Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre for the Teddy Bear Toss Presented By Canadian Tire.
