Hayes Signs Entry-Level Contract with Vegas Golden Knights
Prince Albert, SK – Prince Albert Raiders alumnus Zack Hayes has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights, the NHL club announced on Tuesday.
The contract will begin in the 2021-22 season.
Hayes, a Calgary, AB product, has been playing with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights this season, who are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Golden Knights. In 17 games, Hayes has a goal and three assists with nine penalty minutes. His plus-18 rating leads the AHL heading into action on Tuesday night.
Drafted in the ninth round of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Hayes suited up in 272 career games with the Raiders over five seasons. In his final season in the WHL, Hayes served as team captain while scoring a career high seven goals and adding 16 assists in 60 games. He also tied for the team lead with a plus-37 rating and was named the Lake Country Co-op Co-Most Valuable Player for the season.
Hayes was a crucial part of the Raiders’ run to claiming the 2019 Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions. He suited up in all 23 games, scoring once and adding a pair of assists.
Hayes and the Silver Knights are back in action tomorrow night when they take on the Tucson Roadrunners.
