POE CLAIMS TITLE IN MEDICINE HAT
The Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy took home the 43rd Annual Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds Bantam Tournament title on Sunday, with a 3-1 victory over the Burnaby Winter Club. BWC outshot POE 25-17 in the tournament final, but could only manage to get the single goal past goaltender Geo Wilson. POE was led by the trio of Max Bulawka, Kjell Kjemhus, and 2002 born forward Connor McClennon who received the Stan Ziebart Memorial Award for Most Points through Round-Robin play.
The POE Bantam Prep squad moved past the Edge Bantams in the tournament semi-final with a score of 5-3, while the Burnaby Winter Club moved past the North Shore Winter Club with a score of 3-0 in the second semi-final.
Sasha Mutala of the Burnaby Winter Club was named Player of the Tournament, and Hockey Hounds MVP. Jimmy Darby of the North Shore Winter Club was named Top Defenseman, and Carter Wickson of the Edge was named Most Outstanding Goalie.
