SHOOTOUT SETBACK
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes scored four unanswered goals in a 4-3 shootout win over the Calgary Hitmen Wednesday night at the Enmax Centre.
Riley Sheen had a goal and an assist along with the shootout winner to lead the Hurricanes in a first star performance.
Zane Jones and Jamal Watson also scored for Lethbridge who records a split in the home-and-home series.
Pavel Karnaukhov scored twice for Calgary while Adam Tambellini had the other Hitmen marker.
For Karnaukhov it was his second two goal game in as many outings for the 17-year-old rookie forward from Belarus who now has four goals in three games to start the season.
Stuart Skinner made 50 saves in the Hurricanes net while Evan Johnson, making his first career Western Hockey League start made 34 saves for Calgary.
Calgary was 1-5 on the powerplay and killed all three Lethbridge changes.
The Hitmen will wrap up their two game road trip Friday night at Rexall Place for a tilt against the Edmonton Oil Kings (Sportsnet 960, Shaw TV, Shaw Direct Channel 299) before returning to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday, Oct. 4, to host the Kootenay Ice at 7:00 p.m.
