Beach and MacKenzie back
Calgary, AB – Calgary Hitmen General Manager Kelly Kisio announced today the return of two Hitmen from NHL Training Camps.
Cody Beach rejoins the club after attending St. Louis Blues camp while Matt MacKenzie returns to the 2010 WHL Champions after skating at Buffalo Sabres camp.
Beach, a 6’6” 188lbs. right winger from Kelowna, BC was drafted by the Blues in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He joins the Hitmen for his second season in the Western Hockey League after picking up 14 points (3g 11a) in 51 games in his rookie campaign.
MacKenzie, a 6’2” 194lbs. defenceman from Calgary, AB was drafted by the Sabres in the third round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. This will be MacKenzie’s fourth campaign with the Hitmen after posting 40 points (6g 30a) in 64 games last season.
Both players will be on the practice ice today with their Hitmen teammates from 1:15 to 3:00 p.m. at the Saddledome.
The Hitmen have opened the WHL Regular Season with a record of 0-2. They return to action Saturday night to host New York Rangers first round draft pick Dylan MacIlrath and the Moose Jaw Warriors. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Saddledome.
Saturday is Kids Day where all Kids 12 and under will receive a $5 ticket to the game when accompanied by an adult at regular admission. This offer is only available at the Saddledome box office.
