Hitmen Unveil Great Neighbour Jersey
The Calgary Hitmen unveiled their Great Neighbour jersey during tonight’s halftime show at the Calgary Stampeders Great Neighbour Game at McMahon Stadium.
“This jersey is meant to be gifted to someone as a thank you,” explained Hitmen Manager of Business Operations Rob Kerr. “It’s for that neighbour who takes care of the old couple down the block, for the coach who spends a few extra minutes helping a youngster throw that perfect pitch or for the nurse who always has a smile on their face no matter how many patients they have seen. Calgary is a tremendous city but it’s the people, our Great Neighbours, that make it a special home. Our hope is that when you see someone wearing this jersey, you will know that you’re seeing a great neighbour, a person who has made our community better with no thought of acknowledgment or compensation. You will also know the person inside that jersey is a Great Neighbour.”
This one of a kind jersey is available for purchase to recognize a great neighbour exclusively online at HitmenHockey.com/GNJersey until September 3.
“Our CSEC creative team has done an incredible job combining elements that represent our great City into this design, which have been sublimated into the jersey to enable us to include every fine detail,” added Director of Retail Brent Gibbs. “Some of these elements include the names of all of the neighbourhoods in Calgary and surrounding areas along with several famous landmarks that are key pieces woven into the fabric of what makes Calgary so special. We have also worked with our partners at Siksika and Tsuut’ina Nation to include their traditional patterns on the sleeves. By putting all of these important details together along with our Farley Great Neighbour logo on the shoulders and “Your Neighbourhood Team” sublimated on the inside neck, we feel that we have created something special to celebrate all of our great neighbours in our community.”
With a white base, and influenced by the franchises colours of red, copper and black, the Great Neighbour jersey also features the traditional Hitmen logo as the front crest.
The Hitmen players themselves will wear this unique sweater during Sunday Funday home games this coming season. Its on-ice debut happens at the home opener on Sunday, October 3 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
