Hitmen Select Calder Hamilton Sixth Overall in 2024 WHL Prospects Draft
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is proud to announce the selection of defenceman Calder Hamilton with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. The Prospects Draft is for 2009-born players from the four western provinces and select U.S states.
Hailing from Martensville, SK, Hamilton played with the Martensville Marauders U15 AA during the 2023-24 season. The 15 year-old finished the year with 86 points (35G, 51A) in 28 games clinching the record of most points by a defenceman in a single season in the SAAHL U15. The previous record was held by Toronto Maple Leaf defenceman Morgan Reilly who held it at 84 points.

“Calder’s a really exciting player that we’re thrilled to add to our group. He is mobile, one of the smoothest skaters in the draft, he impacts all areas of the game.” said Gary Michalick, Director of Scouting. “He’s a competitive player who defends extremely well, has great instincts with the puck. We believe he is a complete defenceman.”
