Hitmen Fall to Oil Kings 6-3 in Edmonton
The Calgary Hitmen were at Rogers Place tonight visiting the Edmonton Oil Kings. A two goal lead in the first period for Calgary would be short lived, with Edmonton going on to score five unanswered to make the final 6-2.
Calgary opened the scoring in the first with a marker from Ethan Moore. It was later followed up by Carter Yakemchuk to make it 2-0. Edmonton was able to crack the scoreboard before the end of the first, courtesy of John Szabo to cut the lead in half. The second period belonged to Edmonton, grabbing their first lead of the game with back-to-back goals from Gracyn Sawchyn and Ty Nash.
Marc Lajoie would extend the lead to two goals under a minute into the final frame. Ethan MacKenzie netted Edmonton’s fifth goal, while Lajoie would score his second of the game on an empty net to seal the deal. Shots finished 36-31 in favour of Edmonton. Calgary still sits five points out of a playoff spot behind the Prince Albert Raiders with four games remaining in the regular season.
