Yakemchuk and Tulk Named to WHL Central Division All Star Teams
The Western Hockey League announced today the First and Second Central Division All Star Teams for the 2023-24 season. Two Hitmen players have graced this year’s lists. Carter Yakemchuk has been named to the WHL Central Division First All Star Team, while forward Oliver Tulk has been named to the WHL Central Division Second All Star Team.
Carter Yakemchuk had a career best season in the WHL with a new career high with 30 goals, 41 assists for 71 points. Yakemchuk made franchise history, establishing a new record for most goals in a single season by a Hitmen defenceman previously set by Jake Bean with 24. The defenceman was drafted by Calgary in the third round of the 2020 WHL Prospects draft, now having played 189 games with the club registering 131 points.
Oliver Tulk also had a career best season in his third season with the Calgary Hitmen. He lead the team in points with 80 registering 40 goals and 40 assists in 66 games played. Tulk also lead the team in power play goals with 13 and game winning goals with 7. The forward is the highest scoring Hitmen player since Mark Kastelic notched 38 in the 2019-20 season.
