RECAP: Hitmen Fall To Blazers in High-Scoring 9-5 Finish
Kamloops, BC – The Calgary Hitmen opened their four-game B.C. Division road trip Saturday night in Kamloops, but came up short in a high-scoring 9-5 loss to the Blazers.
Kamloops jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period with goals from Tommy Lafreniere and Nathan Behm. Calgary responded early in the second, as Harrison Lodewyk scored just over two minutes in to cut the deficit in half. The Blazers would regain momentum on a two-man advantage, with Lafreniere and Ty Bonkowski both converting on the power play to make it 4-1.
Caine Wilke pulled the Hitmen back within two with on the power-play, but Kamloops responded quickly. JP Hurlbert restored the Blazers’ three goal cushion before Nathan Behm scored back-to-back goals to complete his hat trick and extend the lead.
Andrew Thomson opened the scoring in the third period to make it 8-2 before Lodewyk struck again for his second of the night. Kale Dach followed with his 20th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 8-4. Josh Evanchesen added the Blazers’ ninth of the game, while Ty Meunier closed out the scoring with a late power-play goal for Calgary.

Calgary now has a two-day break before playing game two of the B.C. road trip on Tuesday, Dec. 30 in Langley against the Vancouver Giants. Game time is 7:00 p.m. PST/8:00 p.m. MST. The Hitmen will then ring in 2026 with a New Year’s Day game in Victoria on Thursday, Jan. 1 before concluding the trip in Prince George on Saturday, Jan. 3.
