Calgary Hitmen Home Opener Friday Night
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen begin their 16th Western Hockey League season tomorrow night (Friday) as they welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes to the Saddledome in the Calgary Real Estate News Home Opener.
Game time is 7:00 p.m. but Dutton’s Lounge will open at 5:30 with several pre-game give-aways.
Doors to the Saddledome open at 6:00 with fans asked to be in their seats by 6:50 p.m. for the start of a special pre-game ceremony marking achievements from the 2009-10 season.
Four banners will be raised to the rafters including; 2010 Western Hockey League Champions, Eastern Conference Champions, WHL Regular Season Champions and Central Division Champions.
Festivities also include player introductions for all 26 members of the 2010-11 team.
Fans will have a chance to buy a piece of franchise history Friday night as all black jerseys from the 2010 WHL Champion Hitmen will be sold. A total of 27 jerseys are up for bid including WHL First Team All-Stars Brandon Kozun, Martin Jones and Michael Stone.
Net proceeds go to the Hitmen Education Fund which supports post secondary study for alumni players.
The silent auction will be held on the Saddledome concourse by section 226. All bids will close when the puck drops at the start the third period. Winners also receive a certificate of authenticity.
