Safety Netting Public Preview
The very latest in public safety measures will be coming to the Multiplex this season. The Western Hockey League has mandated safety netting for all rinks in the league, this coming season. In a joint effort between the Cougars Hockey Club and the City of Prince George, a public preview is being offered to the fans.
r rCougars fans get the chance to voice their concerns, opinions, and have a vote on the colour of netting that will be installed. From July 2 to 6, the City will have test strips installed at the Coliseum (the only arena in the city with summer ice) so fans can check it out. The City and the Cougars will make a decision based on votes and fan opinion.
rrAnyone can visit the Coliseum to look at the netting and vote. Cougars fans in particular are urged to drop in for a viewing. Those Cougars fans with season tickets in the end zones (behind the high glass) might wish to spend time getting used to the visual change. Likewise, fans outside the end zones may wish to see if they would prefer to watch the games from behind the netting.
rrThis initiative is already in place at NHL and International Hockey rinks around the world. The Cougars and the City of Prince George have plenty of examples to draw from, and now they want to hear from the public on the final touches. Safety is always a priority. The Cougars want the best possible environment for their fans to enjoy WHL action, and safety netting brings that to a whole new level. rr
