COUGARS SIGN ADAM KADLEC
Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins announced today that the Prince George Cougars have signed 1999-born forward Adam Kadlec (Edina, MN) to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.
Originally selected by the Cougars in the 10th round (203rd overall) in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Kadlec (6’2”, 179 pounds), a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States started this season with the Boston Jr. Bruins 18U program in the U.S. Premier Hockey League. He’s recorded two assists in three games. Last season Kadlec scored 16 goals and added 25 assists for 41 points along with 46 penalty minutes in just 25 games with the Jr. Bruins 16U team. Last summer he was selected by the Omaha Lancers of the USHL in the seventh round of their USHL Futures Draft.
“Adam absolutely fits the mold of the type of player and the type of person that we want to represent the Prince George Cougars,” said Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. “He plays the game with a strong mix of size, skill and speed and has proven during his first two WHL training camps in Prince George that he can compete at this level. We feel very fortunate to add a player of Adam Kadlec’s caliber to our organization.”
Kadlec becomes the sixth player from the Cougars 2014 draft class to sign with the team. He joins fellow forwards Justin Almeida (Round 1) and Ethan O’Rourke (Round 3) and defencemen Max Martin (Round 2), Peter Kope (Round 5) and Ryan Schoettler (Round 7). He will join the team in Prince George after the team returns from the Prairies and will spend the remainder of the season in Prince George as an affiliate player.
The Cougars return to action tomorrow night in Brandon, MB marking the fifth of their six game road trip that also includes a stop in Regina on Saturday.
