Cats Support Hurricane Katrina
The Prince George Cougars are once again set to kick off the 2005-2006 season in style. Before the ‘Cats hit the ice to face off with Seattle tonight, there will be plenty of pre-game excitement taking place throughout the arena grounds.
Starting at 5:00pm, and running until 7:00pm, the Cougars will be hosting a tailgate party in the parking lot of the CN Centre. Cougar announcer, and 99.3 The Drive DJ Rob Mitchell, will be live on location all afternoon, conducting interviews with players, coaching staff, and management. Helping to get the crowd moving, will be local musicians “Home Brew”. Also on hand will be face painters from the Prince George Art Gallery, and hair painters from Chatters Salon. The 99.3 The Drive girls will be in attendance, handing out gift certificates to fans.
Once again, Save-On-Foods will be on location, selling hotdogs to fill the appetites of Cougar fans. All proceeds raised from the hot dog sales will go towards the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Prince George.
Once the front doors open, representatives from La Bella Banda will be greeting the first 500 fans with numbered business cards. Fans are encouraged to bring in their business cards to La Bella Banda in Parkwood Mall, to determine if they are winners of selected prizes, and the grand prize of a pair of $1800 diamond earrings. Furthermore, 2 lucky season ticket holders will be selected at random to receive a pair of custom made golf clubs courtesy of the Prince George Cougars.
The Prince George Red Cross will also be in the building, collecting donations for the Hurricane Katrina Fund. The Cougars have announced that they will be matching all personal donations up to $5000.00.
Judy and Bill Russell have once again produced this year’s opening ceremonies, which includes a highlight video of last season. During the 1st intermission, Bell, with their $1000 donation, and the Cougars, with the help of Pepsi, have teamed up to sponsor the “Big Brothers and Big Sisters Turkey Bowl” to help raise money and awareness for their organization.
All the excitement is ready to commence at 5:00pm tonight, before the ‘Cats battle the Thunderbirds in the season opener. See you this weekend!
