Chiefs drop seventh straight, fall 3-1 to Seattle
Kent, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs dropped their seventh in a row, 3-1, Sunday night as they faced the Seattle Thunderbirds for the final time this season.
Both teams put up seven shots on goal in the first period, but it was Seattle who found the twine to make it 1-0 at 4:51. They carried the lead into the first intermission.
The Thunderbirds dominated the middle frame, throwing 26 shots at the net to Spokane’s three. Cooper Michaluk was able to stop all but one of those as Seattle padded their lead to 2-0 heading into the second break.
The Chiefs managed to cut the lead in half at 9:48 in the third thanks to a Cade Hayes goal – his 11th of the season. Rookies Tommaso De Luca and Will McIsaac earned assists on the play.

But that’s as close as Spokane would get after Kyle Crnkovic sealed the Seattle victory with an empty net goal at 19:30.
Michaluk had yet another strong performance in the crease, with 49 saves on 51 chances for the night – a new career high for the rookie netminder.[related_links]
Spokane went 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill and were outshot by the Thunderbirds, 52-21.
