Chiefs sign second-round WHL pick William McIsaac
Spokane, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs are proud to announce that prospect William McIsaac has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement. From Vancouver, B.C., McIsaac was selected by the Chiefs in the second round (28th overall) of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
“We’re very happy to welcome Will to our organization,” said Chiefs General Manager Scott Carter. “Obviously taking him in the second round of the draft, we think very highly of him and look forward to seeing him play here in Spokane.”
McIsaac is a 6-foot-3, 170-pound defenseman who has put up eight points (1G-7A) in 16 games, playing up as a 15-year-old on St. George’s School’s U18 Prep team (CSSHL).
Spokane’s Assistant General Manager Jim Hammett noted his advanced game during the draft, describing him as a “big, mature style player who is well-rounded and can play everywhere. He has great defensive sense and can contribute on offense as well with a strong shot. Hard to play against.”

McIsaac is the fourth prospect from the Chiefs’ 2021 class (2006-born) to sign a WHL agreement, joining first-overall pick Berkly Catton, fellow second-round choice Luka Shcherbyna and third-round pick Nathan Mayes. Signed WHL prospects from the 2021 draft are eligible to join their respective clubs as Affiliated Players for up to five games while their home club is still in season. McIsaac will first be eligible to play in Spokane full-time beginning with the 2022-23 season.
