BLAZERS FALL 5-4 TO COUGARS
The Blazers battled back from a 3-0 first period deficit, but fell 5-4 on home ice to the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday night.
The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals from Ethan O’Rourke (2) and Cole Moberg. The Cougars outshot the Blazers 15-6 in the period.
The Blazers started to battle back in the second period as Jermaine Loewen scored his ninth of the season on a tip from Garrett Pilon.
Brogan O’Brien would give the Cougars a 4-1 lead on a shot off the rush. Quinn Benjafield cut the deficit to 4-2 through two periods.
Nick Chyzowski made it 4-3 early in the third period on the power play as he scored his sixth goal on a rebound.
The Cougars would make it 5-3 with 3:22 to go as Kody McDonald scored a shorthanded goal.
The Blazers made it interesting with Garrett Pilon scoring to make it 5-4 with 47 seconds to play. That was as close as the Blazers would get as they fell 5-4 to the Cougars.
Dylan Garand took the loss in goal with 33 saves, while Tavin Grant got the win turning aside 27 shots.
The Blazers are back on home ice for games on Friday and Saturday night against Vancouver and Lethbridge.
