BLAZERS ACQUIRE TWO PLAYERS AND PICK FOR KOZUN
Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers have traded 19-year-old goaltender Taran Kozun to the Seattle Thunderbirds for 18-year-old goaltender Justin Myles, 17-year-old defenseman Austin Douglas and a 4th round draft pick in 2015.
Myles is a 6’2” goaltender that is in his first full season in the WHL after suiting up for eight games last season. In 21 games this year, the Calgary native is 11-6-0-0 with a 3.66 goals against average and a .889 save percentage this season.
Douglas is a big defender standing at 6’6” and 195lbs. He was originally Seattle’s 2nd round draft pick in 2011. The Winnipeg native has played in 13 games this season and has recorded one assist with the Thunderbirds.
“It was important for us to add a defenseman prior to the deadline as we only have six on our roster”, commented General Manager Craig Bonner. “We feel Justin is a good goaltender and will have plenty of opportunity here in Kamloops.”
Kozun was 5-19-2-1 this season with a 3.95 goals against average. He played in 51 games over the past two seasons with the Blazers.
“We’d like to thank Taran for his time and commitment to the organization over the past two seasons,” said Bonner. “Taran has been an outstanding individual for the hockey club both on and off the ice. This will give him an opportunity to play in the playoffs on a contending team.”
Myles and Douglas are both expected to join the Blazers tomorrow in Kamloops and may suit up for the Blazers tomorrow night when they host the Prince George Cougars.
