BLAZERS WIN AGAIN ON THE ROAD
The Blazers gave up a third period lead, but prevailed in overtime 5-4 over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Thomas Frazee scored first for the Blazers as Colin Smith won a battle behind the net and got the puck to Frazee for his 28th of the season and a 1-0 Blazers lead.
The second period was much more exciting, as Dalibor Bortnak shot a puck towards the Hurricanes goal that deflected off a defender past goaltender Brandon Anderson and a 2-0 Blazers lead. Bortnak made it 3-0 when he jumped on a loose puck and made a nice move on a breakaway scoring a big goal for the Blazers. The Hurricanes got on the board when a bad turnover led to Brody Sutter burying a goal to cut the lead to 3-1 after two periods.
Brady Gaudet made it 4-1 for the Blazers wiring a shot from the point in as the Blazers looked in control to start the third period. The Hurricanes came back though and cut the lead to 4-2 after a great 3-on-2 rush. The Blazers had some great chances to extend their lead on a powerplay, but instead gave up a 2-on-1 break that ended up in their net to cut the lead to 4-3. The Blazers then surrendered their lead with less than 3 minutes to play giving up another shorthanded goal to send the game to overtime.
The Blazers made quick work in overtime as Brendan Ranford set up Jordan DePape for the game winning goal and a dramatic 5-4 win. Jeff Bosch earned his 23rd win with 24 saves for the Blazers. The hockey club was 1-for-4 on the powerplay and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
