BLAZERS WEEK IN REVIEW, DECEMBER 12TH
Week in Review:
Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 vs. Everett Silvertips – 6-1 Win
The Blazers left home on a winning note, with a convincing 6-1 home ice victory. It was the Blazers seventh straight victory. Dylan Willick opened the scoring and Austin Madaisky followed it up to make it 2-0. Brendan Ranford scored a shorthanded marker, but Everett got one back before the period was out. The Blazers scored three more power play goals as Willick, Ranford and Colin Smith each tallied to win 6-1. Chase Schaber had three assists and Madaisky finished with a goal and three assists. Cole Cheveldave earned the win in goal making 29 saves. The Blazers power play was on fire as they went 5-for-8 and finished 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. Full Recap and Highlights.
Saturday, December 10th, 2011 at Swift Current Broncos – 5-4 Win
The Blazers never trailed to the Broncos and won the game 5-4. Tim Bozon opened the scoring as JC Lipon won a puck down low and set him up. The Broncos tied the game up, but Lipon scored a nice goal with Bozon picking up an assist on the play. The Blazers extended the lead as Aspen Sterzer scored to make it 3-1. The Broncos battled back though as Taylor Vause tallied twice and the game was tied 3-3 going into the third period. JC Lipon and Tim Bozon continued their strong play, each scoring to make it 5-3 Blazers. The Broncos got one back, but the Blazers hung on for a 5-4 win. Cole Cheveldave earned the win for the Blazers who finished 1-for-2 on the power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill. Full Recap and Highlights.
Sunday, December 11th, 2011 at Regina Pats – 8-4 Loss
It was not the way the Blazers wanted to end the week. The Blazers fell 8-4 in Regina to the Pats. Dylan Willick opened the scoring for the sixth time this season to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. The Pats came back as a couple of turnovers led to goals by Jordan Weal. The Blazers tied the game as Colin Smith put in a rebound, but it was downhill from there. The Pats scored five straight goals to take a 7-2 lead. Cole Cheveldave was lifted for Cam Lanigan after the Pats fourth goal. The Blazers scored twice more with Colin Smith and Tim Bozon getting goals. The Pats scored a late goal to make it an 8-4 final. Lanigan took the loss in goal making 12 saves. Blazers Ranked 7th in BMO MasterCard CHL Top 10
The Kamloops Blazers were back in the CHL Top 10 rankings this past week. This is the third time the Blazers have been ranked in the CHL Top 10 this season. Blazers Continue to Lead the B.C. Division
The Kamloops Blazers finished the week with a 2-1-0-0 record and hold a 3-point lead over the Vancouver Giants for the B.C. Division lead. The hockey club’s eight-game winning streak was snapped on Sunday night with a loss in Regina. Despite the loss, the Blazers hold the WHL’s best road record going 10-3-1-0 away from home this season. The Blazers have a 22-8-1-0 record this season which is good for a .726 winning percentage, second in the WHL. The Blazers have improved to 18-3-1-0 against Western Conference opponents this season with a 6-1 over Everett this past Wednesday. .
Blazers Release an App for the iPhone and Android Devices
The Kamloops Blazers have launched a free mobile App for the iPhone and Android devices. The Official Kamloops Blazers iPhone and Android Apps include the latest scores, news, standings, roster and statistics. The new app will make it easy to keep up to date with the Blazers. Scores, standings and statistics will be up to the minute and easily accessible. Fans can download the new App by following the links to the iPhone App or the Android Marketplace. A Busy Week to end the First Half
The Kamloops Blazers are on the road for their next five games. The Blazers are 1-1-0-0 on a 6-game road trip in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This week, the Blazers will play four games in five nights to finish off the first half of the schedule.
The Blazers will play in Prince Albert on Tuesday night, in Saskatoon on Wednesday night, in Brandon on Friday night and in Moose Jaw on Saturday night. The hockey club will then have nine days off for the Christmas break from December 18th – December 26th.
The team will meet up again in Vancouver on December 26th as they play the Vancouver Giants December 27th. The Blazers will then return home to host the Giants on Wednesday, December 28th.
Kamloops Blazers Christmas Store Hours
The Kamloops Blazers Store will have special hours for the Christmas break. The store will be open from December 14th – 16th from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. The store will also be open from December 19th – 22nd from 12:00pm – 4:00pm.
