The Kamloops Blazers’ intelligentsia were recognized for their academic accomplishments prior to Tuesday’s (Feb. 15) game with the Tri-City Americans at Interior Savings Centre.
The Kamloops Blazers’ intelligentsia were recognized for their academic accomplishments prior to Tuesday’s (Feb. 15) game with the Tri-City Americans at Interior Savings Centre.
Jodan DePape, Dylan Willick, Colin Smith and Logan McVeigh received $100 cheques from the Kamloops Blazers Sports Society Legacy Fund.
Smith, who finished his first Grade 12 semester at Valleyview secondary with a 93% average, and Willick, who scored 81% in a first-year English class at Thompson Rivers University, were given the squad’s Outstanding Academic awards.
DePape, who boosted his first-year English mark from the 60 per cent range to 81 per cent by semester’s end at TRU, and McVeigh, who finished Grade 11 at Valleyview with a 74 per cent average, were the recipients of the club’s Most Improved academic awards.
