KAEDAN TATE IMPRESSES AT TRAINING CAMP
American goaltender Kaeden Tate made a strong impression at Kamloops Blazers training camp, holding his own through back-to-back games, including a shootout performance.
“Kamloops has been a lot of fun,” Tate said. “The first game was good, and the second one went to a shootout, but I held my own and kept us in it.”
Tate comes from the Anaheim Jr. Ducks AAA team, where in 2024-25, he put together a .927 save percentage through 32 games.
As a native of Anaheim, the 15-year-old has grown up a fan of goaltender Frederik Andersen. “He’s been my idol since I was five years old,” he said. “He was the starting goalie for the Ducks back then, and I’ve been following him ever since.”
For fans getting their first look at him, Tate describes his game simply: “I’d say my puck play. I talk a lot out there, and just making saves, staying steady in the net.”
As for what it will take to stick with the Blazers, Tate knows the standard.
“It’s about being reliable,” he explained. “Being consistent, being dependable, and also just being a good guy and good character in the room.”
With that mindset, Tate is aiming to prove he can be a steady presence in the crease as camp rolls on.
